Enterprise routers can be used to give small offices the ability to securely transfer data between networks. In the past, the majority of one-floor businesses on a local area network (LAN) used an internet service provider’s network to receive and forward data packets. As we have come to learn time and time again, the Internet is not secure. An enterprise router allows you to connect a private LAN to a much larger, public WAN (wide area network) without the fear that transfers will be violated from the outside.
