NSW Institute of Teachers information

The DET is a NSW Institute of Teachers endorsed provider of professional development for the maintenance of accreditation at Professional Competence.

This DET course or program is registered professional development under the terms of the NSW Institute of Teachers Continuing Professional Development policy. It is registered as the Professional Learning Component of the 4th Biennial Equity Conference 2009. The course code is 151EPD019.

For teachers accredited at Professional Competence, completion of the Professional learning component of the conference will contribute six hours towards Institute Registered professional development.

The Professional learning component of the conference has 2 aspects:

  1. Concurrent sessions
  2. WOW sessions - collegial professional reflections following guest speaker presentations

Full attendance and participation in the conference will be required for delegates to be deemed to have completed the registered hours allocated.

The Professional Learning Component of the conference will address the following Professional Teaching Standards:

6.2.3, 6.2.4, 6.2.7, 7.2.4

Participants should work through the core activities within the WOW sessions and complete at least two of the reflection activities within the learning journal. The reflection sheets can be used in discussions with school supervisors as evidence of professional learning.

Additional resources will be distributed to teachers accredited at Professional Competence upon registration on the first day of the conference. These include:

  1. Program Record of Participants sign on sheet.
    You will need your DET serial number and NSW Institute of Teachers accreditation number to complete the sheet.
  2. Learning journal
    The learning journal must be completed by teachers claiming maintenance of their accreditation at the Professional Competence level with the NSW Institute of Teachers.
  3. Evaluation form.

Closing date for registration by teachers claiming maintenance of their accreditation at the Professional Competence level with the NSW Institute of Teachers is 3 September 2009.
